The collection marks the beginning of a new chapter for Atlas, as they finally re-launch their fine jewellery offering after several years of purely farming. The move allows pearl jewellery lovers worldwide the opportunity to purchase these exquisite natural gems, direct from the source.

The collection is inspired by its namesake flower, the Frangipani; known for its elegance, purity, and cultural significance in Indonesia, paralleling the qualities of Atlas Pearls and their pearl farms that flourish in the remote and pristine waters of the Indonesian archipelago. The Frangipani flower is celebrated for its connection to nature and tradition, and the design of the pearls harmonizes with this symbolism.

Atlas Pearls has long been synonymous with eco-pearl farming in Indonesia, launching 30 years ago as the first-ever publicly listed pearl farming operation on the Australian Stock Exchange. They have grown to an international powerhouse, producing over 600,000 pearls a year and supplying the international jewellery market with the highest quality South Sea pearls.

In 2019 Atlas Pearls made a conscious decision to concentrate on their core business of eco-pearl farming to supply the international jewellery market, closing their last retail store just prior to the first wave of Covid-19 forced international closures for many other retailers. However, as the demand for sustainably produced luxury accessories gains momentum, Atlas has relaunched their retail offering via a new jewellery website; making their pearls available in ready-to-wear jewellery to international clients.

Since reopening our remote pearl farms for tours earlier this year we’ve seen a huge demand for our pearls to be available for purchase in finished jewellery,” says Kym Weir-Smith, Atlas Pearls Chief Marketing and Sales Officer. “People want something that symbolizes the authenticity of an Atlas Pearl farm experience, our remote but incredibly beautiful Indonesian locations and the natural beauty of the pearls we produce. We are delighted to now offer international quality jewellery, with our South Sea pearls, direct from the source,”

Rather than creating a flashy, gregarious relaunch of their retail offering, Atlas has chosen to release a collection of pieces that have universal appeal, showcasing pearls as an everyday accessory whilst paying homage to the Indonesian culture that is present across their farms.

The frangipani, known for its exquisite beauty and symbolic association with purity and devotion in Balinese Hinduism is often found in temple courtyards, gardens and adorning traditional offerings. The Balinese believe these blossoms are sacred and often use them in religious ceremonies to symbolize the pure and untainted heart offered to deities.

Atlas Pearls’ Frangipani collection perfectly captures the symbolism of the frangipani blossom in a playful and stylish talisman. Each piece features frangipani flowers delicately cradling pearls, marrying two beautiful Indonesian symbols in a modern and elegant style. Playful trace chains delicately dance on the skin in shades of white or yellow gold, while luminous South Sea pearls reflect the wearer's natural complexion, making this collection suitable for all skin tones.

The frangipani motif that features throughout the collection is a graceful reminder of the Balinese warm hospitality, spiritual purity and connection to nature.

Culminating in 7 contemporary designs, Atlas’ Frangipani collection is universally appealing, suitable for everyday elegance, while gracefully hinting sophisticated style.
